•A novel strategy of “spider-web” mode was applied to identify Q-markers of CMM.•The “spider-web” mode was constructed by integrating “content-stability-activity”.•Regression area was regarded as the important criterion to discriminate Q-markers.•Six compounds were preferentially recommended as Q-markers of Xuefu Zhuyu capsule.
