Role for a cortical input to hippocampal area CA 1 in the consolidation of a long-termmemory

HNK-1 staining Larvae were fixed in 4% paraformaldedyde in PBS for 30min at room temperature and then in 100% methanol for 5min at 220 8C. The fixed larvae were washed in PBS containing 1% Triton X-100, and stained with a 1:20 dilution of HNK-1 antibody (Biopharmagen) for 24 h at 4 8C using the Vectastain ABC Peroxidase kit (Vector Laboratories). Antibody incubations and blocking were carried out in 2% Superblock and controls used non-immune mouse serum.
