In the carotid artery, elongation and tortuosity are fairly common and this conditions produces kinking and the coiling. Carotid insufficiency derived from kinking or coiling is a well known situation, and the prevalence of hypertension or neurological symptomaticity in subjects with kinking is higher than in subject without this anomaly. The purpose of this education exhibits is to describe the anatomy of kinking and coiling and to review the CTA technical parameter to better define this pathology.
