Every time the early detection of diseases can be the difference between life and death of a human. Breast cancer is the most commonly occurring cancer in women. Early detection of breast cancer is important step in diagnosis. In this paper, we present a method for classification of medical images. It can be achieved using digital mammography. Mammography is most reliable and widespread method for early detection of breast cancer. The proposed system has three major stepsPreprocessing, Feature Extraction and Classification. The Preprocessing stage involves image acquisition and image enhancement using. Feature extraction methodologies analyze objects and images to extract the most important features that represent various classes of objects. Gabor Wavelet based features are used as inputs to classifier that assign them to the class that they represent.
