Ceftriaxone Sodium : A promising Corrosion Inhibitor For α-Brass in Aqueous Solutions

The efficiency of Ceftriaxone sodium(CTX) as corrosion inhibitor for (αbrass) in filtered water at (2565) °C was studied using gravimetric methods and polarization technique. The inhibitor showed (98.88%) inhibition efficiency at optimum concentration of 40 mgL -1 . Polarization tests suggest that the (CTX) can be classify as a mixed type inhibitor in filtered water. The results obtained revealed that the adsorption of drug on αbrass follows Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Both thermodynamic parameters (adsorption heat ∆H°ads, adsorption free energy ∆G°ads, and adsorption entropy ∆S°ads) and kinetic parameters (activation energy E°a, activation of enthalpy ∆H o a and entropy ∆S°a) were calculated and discussed.
