摘要
SUMMARY Super fine powder, special low viscosity Hydroxypropyl Cellulose (HPC-SSL-SFP), when used as a dry binder at low usage level, can provide harder tablet hardness plus fast disintegration of tablet and fast drug release. In this study, HPC-SSLSFP was found to provide better tablet properties at lower usage level than the other grades of HPC, and to improve both properties and stability of tablet without hindering disintegration time in the case of orally disintegrating tablets formulation. INTRODUCTION Orally disintegrating tablet (ODT) is a solid dosage form which can be taken without water, and is now getting popular as it can improve quality of life for children or elderly people who have difficulty in swallowing. HPC-SSL-SFP, which is micronized special low viscosity HPC (HPC-SSL) into 20μm of D50, is a high performance dry binder which can provide excellent tablet properties at low usage level without hindering disintegration time. In this study, we compared suitability of HPC-SSL-SFP and other grades of HPC for ODT application by direct compression (DC) method, and evaluated properties and stability of tablet when HPC-SSL-SFP was applied to ODT formulation by DC method.
