The term web server can refer to either the hardware (the computer) or the software (the computer application) that helps to deliver web content that can be accessed through the Internet. . Here we deal with software of the server. The most common use of web servers is to host websites, but there are other uses such as gaming, data storage or running enterprise applications. The sensitive information stored on computers and transmitted over the Internet need to ensure information security and safety measures. Without our knowledge, the Intruders sneak into the systems, misuse it and even create back doors to our computer systems. System contains valuable information which should not be in hands of anti-social elements. There is a possibility to hack the systems in network. It can be server or any peer in network. Thus, there must not be any compromise in securing our resources. Hence, Cryptography is mainly used to ensure secrecy. Various security measures are in force in order to protect the sensitive data from intruders, most of them need a strong cryptographic base. Cryptography provide solutions for four different security areas confidentiality, authentication, integrity and control of interaction between different parties involved in data exchange ultimately which tend to the security of information. Digital Envelopes are secured and promises user authentication and non repudiation. Digital Envelopes are made using a combination of Symmetric key Cryptography and Asymmetric key Cryptography. In this paper we present a new technique for data encryption and RSA algorithm for making a Digital Envelope.
