Modular test fixture for occupant restraint systems development tests

Sled tests methodology is used in the validation of the Occupant Restraint system (ORS) design specification, packaging and feasibility assessment for robust crash safety requirements during the early vehicle design phase. The sled tests involves fabrication of a program specific buck (ruggedized BIW) for mounting the components such as seats dashboard, steering system, seatbelts etc. The objective of this study is development of test fixture representing the vehicle environment of multiple vehicle programs in a modular setup to incorporate the features of different anchor position variations, test component changes with minimal structural modifications and position adjustments. The fixture can be used for multiple programs with only relative position variations between the different components.
