The GFDL 5-10 Year Strategic Science Plan June 21 , 2011

GFDL’s mission is to advance scientific understanding of climate and its natural and anthropogenic variations and impacts, and improve NOAA’s predictive capabilities, through the development and use of world-leading computer models of the Earth System. GFDL operates under a strategic planfocusing on the 5-10 year time horizon necessary for the ambitious, longlead time research that can yield products and services of great utility to the scientific community and downstream stakeholders such as policyand decision-makers. These products and services include high-quality science in the peer-reviewed literature, and freely available models, model output data, analyses, and information.
