Procalcitonin as a Marker of Infection in Patients with Liver Cirrhosis Compared to C-Reactive Protein

The study was conducted in Kasr Al-Ainy Hospital, Internal Medicine Department, Cairo University between February 2014 and May 2015. This case control study was conducted on 75 age and sex matched subjects divided into three groups: Group 1 (liver cirrhosis patients who are suffering from infection, 40 patients). Group 2 (liver cirrhosis patients without infection, 20 patients). Group 3 (control group, 15 patients).
