Abstract
A study of Ni nanoparticles-decorated cathodes was performed to evaluate their performance in a low-pressure DC glow discharge configuration. Optical emission spectroscopy was performed to evaluate changes in the glow discharge when various Ni nanoparticles-decorated stainless steel and carbon nanotube-covered stainless steel cathodes were used. The addition of Ni nanoparticles decreased the breakdown voltage required and increased the electron temperature in the negative glow region.
