On the Incorporation of Li ( I ) into the Fluoroapatite Lattice

In attem pts to incorporate the L i(I) cation into the Ca(II) positions o f the fluoroapatite lattice it has been shown that the unit cell becom es increasingly distorted with the increase o f lithium concentration. Crystallographic data have been obtained from X-ray pow der data. The infrared spectra o f these substituted apatites show that the Li(I) incorporation has a negligible effect on the strength o f the P-O bonds.
