摘要
We discuss recent advancements in modern computational implementations of nonoscillatory forward-in-time solvers for weather prediction. We examine the building blocks for the dynamical cores of weather models responsible for stencil computations. Collection of three self-contained mini-applications (atmospheric dwarfs) is optimized and equipped with self-verification and performance evaluation capabilities. The dwarfs are recomposed into the prototype EULAG dynamical core for COSMO weather framework, used operationally for regional weather prediction in Europe and beyond.
