Search For A Complete And Transitive Ranking Of Football Leagues

Is it possible to rank football leagues? This question was addressed by proposing several methods to quantify the overall attractiveness of a league for players using dataset of transfers collected for the last 7 years (2010-2016). The analysis of data shows that the pairwise comparison does not give an opportunity to create complete and transitive ranking, however, the use of methods from the graph theory helps to resolve the issue. While the exact shape depends on the weights put on different parameters of interest the overall dominance of English leagues remains unquestionable under any procedure. JEL classification: Z20
