摘要
A new unsymmetrical pentadentate Schiff base ligand was derived from 2,6-diformyl-4-methyl phenol, oamino phenol and o-phenylene diamine and then it was allowed to react with precursor complexes to form binuclear Schiff base metal complexes. The ligand and metal complexes have been characterized by Molar Conductance, UV-Visible, FT-IR, H-NMR, Cyclic Voltammetry and ESR spectroscopy. The formation of ligand was also ascertained by H-NMR spectra. The molar conductance data reveal that the complexes are 1:1 electrolyte in nature. The IR spectra shows that the Schiff base was coordinated to the metal ions. The electronic spectra and ESR measurements show that Mn(II) binuclear complexes have square planar geometry. The Cyclic Voltammetric studies show that the complexes are quasi-reversible in nature. The synthesized ligands, in comparison to their metal complexes were screened for their antimicrobial activity.
