Activated prothrombin complex concentrates for direct oral anticoagulant-associated bleeding or urgent surgery: Hemostatic and thrombotic outcomes.

•In vitro and animal studies have shown that aPCC corrects kinetic and quantitative thrombin generation parameters.•This is a retrospective study of aPCC for the management of DOAC-associated bleeding or prior to urgent surgery.•aPCC might contribute to hemostasis among patients with DOAC-associated bleeding or needing urgent surgery.•aPCC produced significant in vivo corrections in INR and aPTT values in DOAC-treated patients.
