Design of a RF-resonant set improving locally the B1+ efficiency. Applications for clinical MRI in andrology and urology.

•A birdcage-based wireless RF-coil for penile imaging is presented.•In-silico, phantom and in-vivo tests are undertaken.•The RF-coil provides lower local and global SAR, when compared to the scanner body coil.•The RF-coil provides higher SNR, when compared to available surface coil.
