Abstract
•MPs particles accumulated amounts of Cd levels (7.28 ng/g) as contaminant vectors.•Reproduction, growth and population growth rate of exposed M. monogolica decreased.•M. monogolica exposure to MPs and MPs-Cd affected the energy reserves in offspring.•MPs-Cd cause significantly higher effects than MPs by physico-chemical interactions.•Risk assessment on MPs underline chemical characteristics of adsorbed contaminants.
