Abstract

•A series of MPEG grafted alkylated carboxymethyl chitosan as demulsifiers are presented.•The results show that the demulsifiers possess good performance to deal with O/W emulsion.•Increasing of concentration leads to obvious improvement of demulsification efficiency when concentration is lower than CMC.
