Evolution of the uranium mineralisation in the Zoujiashan deposit, Xiangshan ore field: Implications for the genesis of volcanic-related hydrothermal U deposits in South China

•Hydrothermal U deposits are hosted in early Cretaceous felsic volcanic rocks.•High-K calc-alkaline A2-type volcanic rocks are favourable U sources.•U mineralisation occurred in two major events and is rich in Th.•An early Cretaceous high-temperature brannerite-dominated U mineralisation stage.•A late Cretaceous low-temperature pitchblende-dominated U mineralisation stage.
