Genotyping strategy of SMAD-3 rs3825977 gene variant for a differential management of ascending aorta aneurysm in women people: Gender oriented diagnostic tools

•CT + TT genotypes of SMAD3 rs3825977 variant confer high risk for AAA in female cases.•They positively correlated with the major conventional risk AAA factors of AAA.•A significant correlation was also observed with severe medial degeneration.•SMAD3 rs3825977 was also demonstrated as unique independent AAA risk predictor in woman.•It might be used for a differential AAA management in women.
