Prevalence of mental disorders in South Asia: An umbrella review of systematic reviews and meta-analyses.

•This umbrella review summarized the prevalence of mental disorders in South Asian countries.•Findings of this review suggest high prevalence of depressive disorders, anxiety, schizophrenia and other mental disorders.•Most studies were from India whereas evidence from Afghanistan, Bhutan, and Maldives was limited.•This evidence necessitates further psychiatric research and multi-level interventions for mental disorders in South Asia.
