摘要

•C. spinosus biosynthesizes hopane triterpenes, relatively infrequent in plants.•3β-acetoxy-hop-22(29)-ene is reported as a new natural product.•3β-acetoxy-hop-22(29)-ene exhibited significant anti-inflammatory activity.•3β-acetoxy-hop-22(29)-ene showed high inhibitory activity of yeast α-glucosidase.•Some hopanes showed a moderate effect on T. cruzi and L. mexicana.
