•The special baseline characteristics of the centenarian population make essential to carry out specific studies on this population.•FAC score, number of comorbidities, dementia and Charlson Comorbidity Index have been shown to be risk factors of mortality in centenarians with HF.•A multidisciplinary approach through an Orthogeriatric Unit is essential for the correct treatment of these patients.
