Abstract
•Quiescent yeast cells are more sensitive to UV induced damage than growing cells.•UV lesions in quiescent cells are repaired by the global genome repair pathway.•UV lesions are repaired prior to re-entry of quiescent cells into S phase.•Pol zeta is the only detectable DNA polymerase in quiescent cells.•UV induces mutations in quiescent cell genes marked with H3K36/H3K79 trimethylation.
