Abstract
•The characteristic chromatograms of 10 batches of Vladimiriae Radix and their processed products were studied respectively to carry out the quality control.•Processing procedure can change pharmacokinetic process of the main active components costunolide and dehydrocostus lactone of Vladimiriae Radix, accelerate the absorption and prolong the action time.•After oral administration, processed Vladimiriae Radix could significantly reduce the levels of TNF-α, IL-6, IL-1β, MDA, NO, iNOS and blood ethanol, and increase the level of SOD.•Vladimiriae Radix treats acute gastritis induced by ethanol and reduces gastric injury through the action of anti-inflammation (NF-κB) and anti-oxidation (NRF2/HO-1)
