Latent infection, inflammatory markers and suicide attempt history in depressive disorders.

•In a sample of patients in major depressive episodes, these with a history of multiple suicide attempts had higher toxoplasmosis gondii IgM titers and were more likely to be seropositive.•Suicide attempters also had higher CMV IgG titers.•Log IL-1b levels were lower in suicide attempters.
