Elevated neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio is associated with poor long-term survival and graft failure after lung transplantation

•A neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) greater than 4 is considered elevated.•Elevated NLR is associated with lower long-term survival after lung transplant.•Elevated NLR is associated with graft failure after lung transplantation.•Elevated NLR is not associated with lower short-term survival after lung transplant.
