Qualitative, descriptive study of theoretical and philosophical reflection on socio-cultural factors, sexually transmitted infections, in analogy with authors who discuss the theme addressed. References were sought that relate socioeconomic and cultural factors with a focus on health education. Sexually Transmitted Infections are public health problems due to their magnitude and difficulty in accessing appropriate treatment. Sociocultural aspects are inserted in several areas of health, especially those most stigmatized by society such as sexually transmitted infections. We can observe the importance of ecological aspects regarding sexually transmitted infections and how the dynamics of societyu0027s behavior impacts its evolution. The study reveals which aspects are relevant in the socio-cultural field of sexually transmitted infections for prevention with a focus on health education. The basic strategy for controlling the transmission of sexually transmitted infections is prevention by means of educational activities that focus on the risks inherent in unprotected sex, behavioral change, and condom adoption by analyzing the particular factors of each community segment.
