Sat-146 epidemiology of chronic kidney disease in two tertiary referral centres in sri lanka

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is rapidly becoming a major public health issue in Sri Lanka. The worldwide leading underlying causes for CKD are diabetes, hypertension and glomerulonephritis. There is regional variation in CKD prevalence in Sri Lanka due to the presence of a CKD of uncertain aetiology (CKDu). Significant attention is paid to the early identification, prevention and management of CKDu, while CKD due to known causes in much of the rest of the country is paid much less attention as a public health problem.
