Abstract
•Thermal stability of nanocrystalline AlxCoCrFeNi high entropy alloys is studied.•FCC in lower Al, and BCC in higher Al containing alloys are observed.•Major phases evolved in as milled condition are observed to be highly stable.•High grain growth resistance is observed upon prolonged heat treatment.
