Investigation of genetic diversity and stock structure of Aristeus alcocki Ramadan, 1938 (Decapoda: Aristeidae) populations in the Indian coast with microsatellite markers

•Arabian red shrimp Aristeus alcocki showed high range of genetic diversity from along Indian coast.•The genetic structure of Arabian red shrimp shows that no significant difference in populations along the Indian coast.•It is probably influenced by the mixing of waters along the coastline, habitat, currents and migration of A. alcocki.•This species should consider it as a single stock for adopting fishery management strategies in the Indian coast.
