Multistage pyrites in the Nibao disseminated gold deposit, southwestern Guizhou Province, China: Insights into the origin of Au from textures, in situ trace elements, and sulfur isotope analyses

•Ores in the Nibao gold deposit of SW Guizhou contain four types of pyrite.•Pyrites (Py1–Py4) were identified based on textural and LA-ICP-MS analyses.•Main ore stage pyrite (Py4) contains the highest concentrations of Au.•Gold is structurally bound in the pyrite lattice, but is uncorrelated with As.•Gold and other metallogenetic elements likely have a sedimentary source.
