Abstract
•Multiple antipsychotics use in patients with schizophrenia is decreasing compared to previous studies.•Multiple antipsychotics are mostly used in patients with longer disease duration.•The use of multiple antipsychotics prolongs duration of hospitalization.•Antipsychotic combination is not superior to monotherapy in ensuring treatment compliance and preventing re-hospitalization.•Clinicians mostly preferred an antipsychotic combination with paliperidone palmitate instead of clozapine.
