Comparative assessment of nutritional composition, polyphenol profile, antidiabetic and antioxidative properties of selected edible wild plant species of Bangladesh

•Five selected Bangladeshi wild vegetable varieties were analyzed.•The vegetables were rich in iron, zinc, magnesium, potassium, ascorbic acid, protein, carbohydrate, fiber and low in fat.•Erythrina variegata (Mandar gach) had significantly higher phenolic content and antioxidant activity than others.•Eleven phenolic compounds were detected in wild vegetable varieties.•Ellagic acid, rutin hydrate and catechin hydrate were the highest three phenolic compounds.
