Camera 3D positioning mixed reality-based interface to improve worker safety, ergonomics and productivity

•A mixed reality-based user interface is proposed for camera 3D positioning tasks.•The proposed method improves the safety, ergonomics and productivity of the workers.•The complete design of the application is described.•Experimental results performed in an industrial environment with expert workers are shown.•Several usability tests demonstrate the intuitiveness of the proposal.
