•A high-efficient ECL-RET in g-C3N4-Ag nanostructure was developed.•g-C3N4 NSs and Ag NPs were combined into one nanostructure.•GOx-induced H2O2 etching Ag NPs was used as the signal modulator.•A split-type ECL immunosensor was designed for sensitive detection of IL-6 anal.
