The dynamic behavior of non-polarized erbium-doped fiber ring laser under experimental pump modulation

•Resonant peaks, bifurcation, optical bi-stability and chaos are observed in EDFRL.•Time domain of laser output response has shown linear and non-linear laser behaviours.•The time domain response showed a sinusoidal wave form at all times.•Input and output amplitudes are directly proportional during amplitude modulation.•Saturation point increases with an increase in MF and RF during amplitude modulation.
