The effect of clonidine added to ropivacaine on opioid consumption in transverse abdominis plane blocks for cesarean section: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, pilot trial

•Adding clonidine to a post-cesarean TAP block did not reduce MMEs at 24 h.•Clonidine did not increase sedation or decrease heart rate or blood pressure.•Clonidine may confer a protective benefit against the development of severe nausea.
