Diagnostic accuracy of SUVmax in predicting malignancy of supraclavicular lymph nodes from primary oesophageal cancer

•Supraclavicular lymph nodes are classified as distant metastasis in patients with oesophageal cancer.•Most clinicians believe that the presence of M1 disease precludes curative treatment approaches.•The best nodal SUVmax cut-off for malignancy was found to be 3.0.•SUVmax values can help predict the likelihood of malignancy for supraclavicular nodes.
