•A total of 9985 tabanid flies comprising 2 subfamilies, 4 genera and 17 species.•The predominant species collected was Chrysops mlokosiewiczi.•The highest numbers of tabanids were collected from June-August.•A bimodal peak was observed for Chrysops mlokosiewiczi in June and late-July.
