Abstract
The use of higher-frequency band, i.e., millimeter wave, comes with challenges in terms of radiofrequency (RF) electromagnetic field (EMF) absorption as the basic restriction is shifting from Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) to power density (PD). This paper presents study on RF EMF absorption in the frequency band of 27–71 GHz as a nominated frequency band by Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for fifth-generation (5G) wireless communication systems. To comply with applicable exposure limit and have a realistic study, a printed monopole antenna has been used as a source of radiation, placed at close proximity to a head model with electrical properties of the head tissues.
