•TiO2 nanotube on Ti mesh embedded with Sb-SnO2 electrode was easily fabricated.•Mutual-supported TiO2 nanotube increased Sb-SnO2 loading and electrode stability.•M-TNTs-SnO2 favored generation of ·OH for higher electro-catalytic oxidation.•Electron transfer distance would be shortened due to transverse transfer direction.
