Identification of a pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) patient cohort and study of its burden of illness in Programme de Médicalisation des Systèmes d'information (PMSI)

•Inpatient visits represented 52% of total hospital events in PAH patients.•PAH patients had on average between 2.2 and 2.3 inpatient visits per year.•The average number of outpatient visits per year increased from 1.4 to 2.5 (2012 to 2016).•The 2016 average cost per patient was €10,256 for inpatient and €1899 for outpatient visits.•20% of PAH patients accounted for approximately 60% of total cohort costs.
