Abstract
Polarization reconfigurable antenna has been an interesting solution in increasing transmission efficiency. However, existing implementations tend to have low gain and limited bandwidth. In this work, design improvements for both gain and bandwidth was applied to a single-layered microstrip patch antenna with parasitic patches. Fractal implementation on the parasitic patches and main patch were used for both gain and S-11 improvement respectively. Circular Defected Ground Structures (DGS) with a 45 degrees tilt was used to increase the bandwidth of the design. Simulation results showed the design having a center frequency of 2.4 GHz, a gain of 7.55 dBi, and bandwidth of 144 MHz.
