Treating Desmoid Tumours; Are Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs A First Line?

Background: Desmoid fibromatosis are rare; accounting for approximately 0.03 percent of all neoplasms and two to four per million population per year. The first report of an NSAID being associated with regression of a desmoid tumour came in 1980. It is difficult to know if NSAIDs have real antitumor activity given the spontaneous improvement in desmoids as a first line treatment. The benefit of NSAIDs over any other form of therapy remains unclear.
