Aerosol deposition of thin-film solid electrolyte membranes for anode-supported solid oxide fuel cells

•Fabrication routine of SOFCs with thin-film aerosol deposited solid electrolyte.•Annealed electrolyte shows dense structure without gas leaks and conductive impurities.•IV curves and impedance spectra of model SOFCs were measured.•Electrodes’ polarization limits performance, more active cathode is needed.•Aerosol deposition is suitable for deposition of dense uniform electrolyte.
