Background: Historically, all gallbladders are send for histopathologic examination following cholecystectomy to exclude presence of malignancy. Several hospitals switched to a selective histopathologic (Sel-HP) policy to reduce unnecessary pathological workload. Our aim was to evaluate the evolution of a Sel-HP policy and determine safety and cost reduction.
