Geometrical optimisation of Transpired Solar Collectors using design of experiments and computational fluid dynamics

•The geometry of the Transpired Solar Collectors TSCs was optimised.•Pressure drop showed a significant role in relation to thermal performance.•The study demonstrated an improvement in the thermal performance by 43%.•The optimised geometry uses 28% less material compared to the conventional design.
