•Distal tibial tuberosity – high tibial osteotomy combined can effectively correct varus deformity, and relieve symptoms. It has a more significant early curative effect in knee osteoarthritis of medial compartment.•Medical imaging is a necessary and effective advanced method for the judging the damage of the medial and lateral compartment of knee more accurately.•The shear wave shearlet domain improves the gamma correction method to effectively preserve the image details, which is conducive to diagnosis and improve diagnostic accuracy.
